A piece of the Pie; Cutting Corners

The evening was rather pleasant.  With the sun resting on its final moment on the red sky, Marcus and Trench knew the night was going to be interesting.  Trench had convinced Marcus to attend one of his financial meetings to boost his convidence during business transactions.  The evening was a lost anyway, so Marcus agreed to accompanied him to his so call special transaction.

We pulled in the parking lot of the Marriot Hotel around 7pm.  The parking lot seem pack.  Cars and Suv from every business man and women in the Tri-State area aligned neatly in rows as to say that there was order to this madness.  I knew it was going to be a busy night.  Before we could enter the main lobby of the hotel we were interupted by someone.

“Trench, Hey Trench, Is that you?  Ahhh man who would have thought?”  The graining voice yell from across the parking lot level.

“Oh shit, its Crazy Will and his buddies, just keep walking.”  trench immediatly replied.

“Whats up, is something wrong, whats the deal?”  I asked panicking.  I know how trench sometimes conduct business that can normally leave a sour tatse in someone’s mouth.

“Nothing Marcus, just keep walking” he shouted, leaving no doubt that this confrontation was not one of those happy one we usually get from our biker friends.  So I kept walking. But not for far.  Two more of Will’s gonies turn the corner blocking us from the main lobby and cutting us of from escaping a confrontation.

“Hey Trench, I would say you and your friend was trying to escape me, please tell me I’m igmaging things”  Will said as he approached us.  His 6′3 frame more intimidating than his voice, and with the 357 Luger strapped at his waist, didn’t leave much thought of a friendly conversation in anyone’s head.

“You got it wrong, Will.  We’re just late thats all.  But what can we do for ya, since we’re going to be late anyways”  Trench smart mouth spitted back at Will and his goones.

“So sorry, you’re going to be late”  Will utters as he lunged forward to deliver a sweetly packed punch to the mid section on Trench.  The sound of that punch crackled even my ribs as Trench curls over holding his belly.  I knew that this was not going to be good in anyways, since 2 of Will goones already had their heat pointed to our heads.

Thats crazy. I really don’t think that being gay or a liklihood of being gay is a characteristc noted or defined in someone’s DNA gene map. If thats the case they can pretty much determine who has the genes to murderers, rapists, etc. Whats next, modifying the human genome to rid us of all negative aspects on human evolution.

The fact to the matter is human’s still have that major life changing factor that most God Playing bastards seems to forget. And that is CHOICE. We have choice to choose what we want to do with our lives and how we want to live it. I can have that gene to be gay, to be a murderer, to be a fighter, but its still up to me to choose if I want to go down that path.

Also, life has a funny special way of weeding things out and correcting our faults and mistakes. We have evolved to the present. Over millions of years, this is the product of what we have been, what we have struggled against, and what we have overcome. Now for us to alter that change, that evolution, this outcome, would be throwing a wrench into the works.

For the parents of such unborned children that would even consider a drastic change such as this, remember that you’re limiting your child and removing one aspect of their choice, thus eliminating a course in life that probably would be better for them as individuals.

But what do I know….

Another Lost

It seems that all good things must come to an end.  Well, at least latly thats been my train of thought.  I lost my uncle leonard last week.  He was the victim of the dreaded Gangrene infection to his right foot.

My uncle was a proud man.  A man that suffered a lot of trials and tribulations in his lifetime that most may take for granted.  His biggest obstacle was he could not read or write, and while that may cripple most individual, Uncle Lenny was determined to continue life the way he wanted.  His infection became known more than 5 years ago.  He was under treatment for what doctors called “wet gangrene also know as gas gangrene.”  Just recently, around December of 06, the doctors advise him to lose the leg.  His answer to their suggestion would be the end of things he knew and the end of his life.

I loved my uncle.  As anyone would love a family member.  Some of my life’s lessons was taught to me by him.  And even though I find it hard to forgive him of making a decision that would untimatly take his life, I respect him more for fighting it out and living the life he wanted.  He did not want to be look upon as a handicapped, a battle he fought his entire life, because of his situation.  And to the last conversation we had, he was always concern about others instead of himself.

He died unfairly in my eyes, but he died a man that I will never forget.  I pray that God places him among the brave men and women that made their choices in life to live life as they seem right and not to give in to life’s ridulous status quo.  I love you Uncle Lenny.
